Hello! This is Alyssa and Carlos from Trash. Just taking a moment to let you all know that our landlords are refusing to renew our lease at the end of September 2024. We do feel as though we are being discriminated against by the landlords, who have refused to acknowledge Alyssa and Carlos as the new owners of the shop since the change of ownership in 2022. Trash has changed since the dawn of its creation and has become way more of a community art center than a bougie retail destination / party spot. Yes, we are a vintage store, we sell vintage clothes but we also are both artists and humans with big hearts and lots of love for the community. Carlos is being misjudged due to his past, he’s lived here almost his entire life. He’s on the right path, thriving and working his butt off for our collective wellbeing. Our landlords have never taken the time to get to know Carlos and me. We’ve never been in a position where we have had such a close relationship with our neighbors, to have to leave is not only devastating but a huge blow to our business and relationships. If you could help us out by signing a petition urging the landlords to let us stay we would be extremely grateful. We appreciate you all!
