Keep Three Cherry Trees Lane Open During 6 Month Roadworks

The Issue

ONE WAY SYSTEM TO START 11th JAN

Update Jan 2025 - Latest information from HCC regarding the closure of Three Cherry Trees Lane.

The Public consultation for this scheme was undertaken in 2020/21.  Information on the traffic management / diversion routes are available via the website and residents are invited to make contact via the ATF website  Active Travel Fund  where they can either register for updates or send emails via the ATF inbox.   atfconsultation@hertfordshire.gov.uk

Please note that the above website will be updated on Monday 6th January with the amendment noted below on the Three Cherry Tree Lane closure.

Following concerns expressed by Members, businesses and the local community the contractors revisited the traffic management arrangements and in consultation with Network colleagues who reviewed the traffic data and proposed a directional opening of Three Cherry Trees Lane (TCTL) from Green Lane into TCTL. This will not need to be signal controlled.

These revised arrangements will be monitored.  Please let me know if you experience problems and these will. be passed on.

PLZ CONTINUE TO SIGN THE PETITION AND COMMENT ON HOW IT WILL EFFECT YOUR JOURNEY.

Please document the increase time to your journey and take photos of congestion. Please send these via facebook. This evidence will be passed onto the Hertfordshire Highways in the next few weeks to aid their review.

December 2024 -

If you are one of the 95,961 residents of Hemel Hempstead, then you will know the deep impact of the planned closure of Three Cherry Trees Lane due to planned roadworks. This move dramatically affects a large proportion of Hemel Hempstead residents who utilise this key road daily for access, particularly to/from the M1. The closure will undoubtedly disrupt our lives in significant ways for 6 months.

There has not been an adequate explanation as to why Three Cherry Trees Lane needs to be closed during this period. Except -

Roadworks are essential, but the planning must consider the impact on the residents it is set to affect. According to the Department for Transport, in 2019 there were 4 million miles of roadworks in the UK, causing a total delay of 53.6 million hours - a colossal waste of time for the public.

Rather than closing Three Cherry Trees Lane entirely, we must find a solution that enables roadworks to happen and allows us to continue with our lives with minimal disruption. How? One possible solution is to carry out roadworks only during off-peak hours.

Hemel Hempstead and Woodhall Farm residents cannot afford the time and anxiety wasted on diversion and disruption due to road closure. We respectfully petition for the proposed plan to be reconsidered urgently.

Let us unite to keep Three Cherry Trees Lane open during these planned roadworks. Help ensure our concern is heard: Sign this petition!!
