There is just over 100 acres of land that is being considered for rezoning in the town of Knightdale. This land is undeveloped woodland area and wetlands. There is an abundance of wildlife that consider this land their home and they've already been pushed out of surrounding areas because of development. By building on this land these animals will lose their homes and be forced into suburban areas ultimately leading to their deaths. We already have flooding issues and taking away that much natural growth like that will only increase flooding. The roads in the town of Knightdale already cannot handle the amount of people that live and travel through the area. I have personally seen animals such as a red wolf, a red headed woodpecker and a red cockaded woodpecker in the woods they want to develop. These are protected species. Additionally there is an abundance of deer, raccoons, opossums, owls, falcons and others that consider this area their home. It is up to the leaders of Knightdale to decide whether or not to rezone this land and allow this development to happen and I am pleading with the public to please sign this petition in an effort to preserve the area and the wildlife that thrives on it.
