KEEP WILDLIFE SAFE FROM PROPOSED DRILL SITE

Escalante Ranch needs your help in stopping the proposed sale of an oil and gas lease for a drill sight on the Escalante Ranch in Jensen, Utah, across from Dinosaur National Monument. Not only does the proposed drill site interrupt and impact all aspects of Escalante Ranch’s business, property, agricultural production, profitability, and employees, but it will have a major impact overlapping a conservation easement for endangered fish and wildlife in the area.
The proposed lease would border the Green River, overlap the 100 year flood plain, be within view of the Escalante Dominguez Expedition State historical marker, as well as interfere with wetlands, elk habitat, mule deer, antelope, upland game birds, migratory birds, and waterfowl.
We feel that the development of these parcels proposed for lease is not in accord with the nature of this area and collectively raise serious concerns of negative impacts on air, water and soil quality, soundscapes, ecosystems and historical preservation.
We at Escalante Ranch are not against oil and gas production in our area and within our communities, we just feel that it should be kept in certain permittable and less impacted areas. Please help us by voicing your concern by submitting a short comment. The BLM is accepting public comments on this controversial proposal through July 22, 2017 so we must act fast.
