The Issue

For many years, TANK Number 16 Route has been a lifeline for me and countless others in our community. Living in the heart of Northern Kentucky, this route is more than just a means of transportation; it is a crucial part of our daily lives that connects us to our jobs, healthcare appointments, grocery stores, and social engagements. The possibility of losing this essential service fills us with anxiety and concern, particularly for the elderly, disabled, and working-class individuals who rely heavily on public transportation.

The removal of TANK Number 16 would disproportionately impact vulnerable populations in our community. Many elderly residents who no longer drive depend on this bus route for their weekly errands and medical checkups. People with disabilities, who already face a lack of accessible transportation options, would find their independence further diminished. Working-class individuals who do not have the privilege of owning a car would struggle to get to their places of employment, risking loss of income and economic stability.

TANK Number 16 is not just a route; it symbolizes freedom and connectivity. It is critical that we preserve this service not only for our own well-being but also to ensure the prosperity and inclusivity of our entire community. Without it, those who are already marginalized will become even more isolated and disadvantaged.

Statistics show that public transport ridership contributes significantly to the economic stabilization of urban areas. According to the American Public Transportation Association, every $1 invested in public transportation generates approximately $4 in economic returns. Keeping the TANK Number 16 alive not only supports social and demographic diversity but also boosts our local economy by facilitating workforce mobility and consumer spending.

We appeal to the decision-makers of TANK to reconsider the termination of Route 16. We propose seeking alternative solutions such as partnerships with local enterprises, community funding initiatives, or government grants aimed at preserving essential public services. Additionally, investing in this route's sustainability could include exploring new technologies or improvements in service efficiency that make the route more viable in the future.

We implore you to sign this petition to safeguard the TANK Number 16 Route. Let's stand together in support of an equitable and vibrant community in Northern Kentucky. Your signature can make a difference and help us keep this invaluable community resource intact.
