Keep Timpanogos public use trails original names

Keep Timpanogos public use trails original names
The Issue
Recently, the DNR of Utah has decided to change all of the trail names in the Timpanogos foothills. This has been detrimental to the area as confusion and general miscommunication is on the rise with all the trail names being changed without notice. All of the original trail names are tied to Google maps, Strava maps,Trailforks, And all other Trail based apps. Because of this, it is getting harder to find where a person may be on the mountain. For example, The trail known as “crank” is now being called “lazuli”, this new name carry’s no pertinent history to the mountain that Crank does. Not only does this increase the probably of people getting lost, it also ruins the Strava segments as they are tied to those original trail names.. It makes recommending these trails to non-locals quite difficult as many enjoyers of this forestland have the names burned into their brain. Lastly, it is a drag on the history of the trails and those that know and love these trails by heart. Keeping these trail names is very important to the history, well-being of the trails, and the overall moral of the outdoor goers who love this forestland and should be kept to the original names that they are known and loved for.
