The Issue

To NBCUniversal, Universal Studio Group, Amazon Prime Video, and potential streaming partners:

The Magicians should not become harder for audiences to discover.

All five seasons of the acclaimed Syfy series are currently available to U.S. subscribers through Amazon Prime Video, but current streaming listings indicate that availability is scheduled to end on October 1, 2026.

We are asking NBCUniversal and its streaming partners to ensure that The Magicians continues to have a subscription-streaming home in the United States.

That could mean renewing its availability on Prime Video, bringing the complete series to Peacock, licensing it to another major streaming service, or finding another way to keep all five seasons easily accessible to subscribers.

This is not simply a request from fans who miss a canceled show.

The Magicians has continued to find new viewers years after its 2020 finale. Its mixture of fantasy, dark comedy, queer storytelling, psychological complexity, music, friendship, grief, trauma, and deeply flawed characters has given it an unusually durable following.

The show deserves the chance to keep finding those viewers.

Removing it from subscription streaming would create a major barrier to discovery. Buying five individual seasons is not a realistic replacement for the casual accessibility that allows someone to hear about the show, press play on the first episode, and become a fan.

That matters particularly for a finished series.

Shows like The Magicians develop second lives through streaming. New viewers discover them. Existing fans rewatch them. Clips and discussions introduce them to another generation. A complete 65-episode series becomes more valuable when audiences can actually find it.

And The Magicians is especially suited for rediscovery.

Six years after its finale, people are still discussing Eliot and Quentin, Margo, Alice, Julia, Penny, Fillory, “A Life in the Day,” the musical episodes, and what the series meant to them.

The fandom is still here.

We are not asking for something unrealistic. We are asking the companies responsible for this catalog title to recognize that it still has an audience and to keep it accessible.

Please ensure that all five seasons of The Magicians remain available through a U.S. subscription streaming service after October 1, 2026.

Whether that home is Prime Video, Peacock, or another platform matters less than making sure new and longtime viewers can continue to enter Fillory.

Magic may come at a cost.

Watching The Magicians shouldn't require buying five seasons individually.

Keep Brakebills open. Keep Fillory accessible. Keep The Magicians streaming.
