The Issue

We, the undersigned Governors Club residents, are asking the Governors Club POA Board to reconsider the decision to completely close the Lystra Gate for approximately six weeks during the upcoming road work.

The closure places a significant burden on residents, particularly those living closer to the Lystra entrance. We are already seeing substantial backups at the Mt. Carmel entrance, especially in the mornings when contractors are entering the community. A complete closure will mean additional traffic, significantly longer drive times, increased fuel use, and additional safety concerns for residents.

We are asking the POA Board to seriously consider alternatives to a complete closure, including:

• Keeping one lane of the Lystra Gate open, when construction conditions allow, and/or allowing resident access during designated hours.

• Temporarily opening the golf course maintenance entrance for resident traffic during the Lystra Gate closure, with appropriate safety measures and restrictions if necessary.

We understand that the maintenance entrance has previously been discussed and that concerns were raised regarding road width and lighting. However, given the significant impact of a six-week closure, we believe this option deserves to be reconsidered as a temporary solution.

We recognize that the road work needs to be completed and that there may be periods when the Lystra entrance must be completely closed for safety or construction purposes. We are not asking for construction to stop. We are asking the POA to work with residents to minimize the impact whenever reasonably possible.

The number of residents expressing concerns demonstrates that this issue deserves further consideration. We respectfully ask the POA Board to review these alternatives and provide residents with a response explaining what accommodations can be made during the closure.
