Keep the Little Library at Alemarble Oak Street and Baren Brook Way
The Issue
For the past year, the "Little Library" at the corner of Alemarble Oak Street and Baren Brook Way has been a beacon of community spirit and creativity. Adults and children alike have found joy in swapping books, board games, puzzles, and more. It's been a place where neighbors connect, share stories, and help foster a love of reading. However, recently, we were told to dismantle our beloved "Little Library" due to claims that it was "unsightly" or contained "toys in the yard."
First and foremost, we must question what constitutes "unsightly." A small friendly structure that encourages knowledge sharing surely doesn't fit that description. Nor is it merely a collection of "toys in the yard." Instead, it's an invaluable resource that has brought many of us together in a shared mission to enhance our community's educational and cultural life.
There is a possibility that people's concerns can be addressed while keeping the library going. If aesthetics are truly a concern, let’s work together to design a more suitable structure that blends beautifully into our neighborhood. Can we engage with a local artist or architect to create something both functional and attractive?
Furthermore, if the current location is an issue, let’s consider relocating the "Little Library" to a more communal space, yet still accessible for everyone. Could the Homeowners Association (HOA) be willing to support this relocation to preserve the library's beneficial presence?
The "Little Library" has become a symbol of community, unity, and shared learning in our neighborhood. It is more than just a place for books; it is a testament to the values we stand for: a supportive, generous, and well-connected community. Let's not let bureaucratic hurdles remove this heartwarming project but instead seek solutions that satisfy all parties involved.
We need your support to make sure the "Little Library" continues to enrich our lives and remains a gathering point for future generations. Please sign this petition to urge our HOA and community leaders to allow our "Little Library" to thrive once again. Let’s bring the "Little Library" back to Alemarble Oak Street and Baren Brook Way!
