Keep the Left Lane Clear: Ban Semi-Trucks & Slow Drivers from the Left Lane on Missouri Roads

To: Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), Missouri State Legislature

We, the undersigned, call on Missouri lawmakers and the Missouri Department of Transportation to enact and enforce laws that:

1. Prohibit semi trucks from using the left lane on highways and roads (except when passing or in emergency situations).

2. Require slower-moving vehicles to stay in the right lane unless overtaking another vehicle.

Why This Matters:

• Safety: Semi-trucks in the left lane create dangerous congestion and limit visibility for other drivers.

• Traffic Flow: Left-lane slowdowns cause unnecessary backups and increase road rage incidents.

• Consistency: Many states already have similar laws to improve highway efficiency and reduce accidents.

We urge Missouri officials to prioritize road safety and traffic efficiency by implementing these changes.
