We just passed 5000 names, fantastic! Today, thanks to journalists picking up on this petition, we got our first media coverage: the Daily Telegraph, the favoured UK Government newspaper carried an article (see image above) citing UK media star and former Kew Horticulturalist Alan Titchmarsh, and also petition signer (second top rated comment), Professor of Plant Systematics at the Uni of Oxford, Robert Scotland. Both speak out against the plan to off site the Kew Herbarium https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/08/09/alan-titchmarsh-no-advantage-relocate-kew-gardens-library/ . A letter opposing was also published.
Please continue to share the link to this petition to like minded people who may not have seen it. More signatories would be great.
If you are a UK resident please email your MP with a short note to say that you are concerned (if you are) about matters at RBG, Kew, and asking for more information and for a debate in parliament after the recess. You can find your MP and their contacts here: https://members.parliament.uk/FindYourMP
Please help us keep the Kew Herbarium at Kew!
