The Issue

We, the residents, families, and community members of El Paso County, demand that the Commissioners Court, protect the historical legacy and community accessibility of the El Paso County Coliseum.

Our El Paso County Coliseum has long stood as a symbol of community pride, serving as a vibrant venue for countless cultural, musical, sports and overall affordable family events that bring us together in celebration, reflection, and unity of the El Paso spirit.

Managed by a dedicated nonprofit foundation for over 20 years, the Coliseum has thrived by prioritizing community interests, inclusivity, and access over profit motives.

However, there is a disturbing call to transfer control, which we the community members strongly oppose.

We oppose opening the venue’s management to outside, for-profit organizations or restrictive institutional control that could price out the everyday El Pasoan, potentially jeopardizing the core values that make the Coliseum a cherished communal asset.

Handing operations over to a private entity risks skyrocketing ticket prices, higher rental fees for local organizations, and the loss of grassroots community programming.

We call on the Commissioners Court to immediately halt the Request for Proposals (RFP) process, reject for profit bidding, and prioritize an agreement that keeps the management structure as is, and public community access at its core.

Let us protect and preserve a space that is much more than brick and mortar—it is a living testament to our community’s diversity, history, and spirit.

Keep our Coliseum local, affordable, and accountable to the people of El Paso!

Join us in ensuring that El Paso County Coliseum remains a place where everyone feels welcome.

Please sign this petition to keep the Coliseum in the hands of the current management that cherishes El Paso's unique social and cultural kaleidoscope.
