Keep the community center hours from 8am to 8pm

Keep the community center hours from 8am to 8pm
The Issue
We, the undersigned community members, respectfully request that the Howard Community Center remain open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Early morning access is vital to meeting the needs of our neighborhood and ensuring continued opportunities for youth, families, and residents to participate in safe, structured programming.
Early morning hours allow the Howard Community Center to support working families, school-aged children, and preschool youth by providing a supervised and positive environment before the school day begins. These hours create opportunities for leadership development, social and emotional learning, and healthy routines that prepare children for success in school and in life.
Although the center previously opened in the mornings, there has not been sufficient time to fully grow and strengthen morning programming. We are seeking the opportunity to continue developing early programs, particularly those serving preschool children and their families, so the center can meet community demand and fulfill its role as a safe and accessible resource. Reducing hours to 11:00 a.m. removes critical access during a time when structure, supervision, and community support matter most.
Communities thrive with routines and accessibility, and the alteration of these hours would be a setback for many who cherish and rely on these community services. Statistics show that community centers with extended hours have higher participation rates and contribute positively to local well-being. The decision to preserve these hours is about more than just convenience—it's about supporting our community's holistic growth.
Let's appeal to our community leaders to reconsider this decision for the benefit of all residents. By signing this petition, you are voicing your support for keeping the community center hours from 8 am to 8 pm. Help us ensure that our community remains a place where everyone can enjoy the facilities without limitations. Please sign and share this petition to make a difference in our neighborhood!
