Keep Tanya White as Assistant Principal at Village Elementary

The Issue

Ms. White is a highly engaged, dedicated, and successful Assistant Principal. And she has voiced to parents through the years how much she loves being Assistant Principal at Village Elementary. We parents believe she is exceptional and also want her to stay in her role as Assistant Principal at Village Elementary. We strongly support this humanizing and committed individual. We will be upset and, more importantly, do not believe it will support the education and emotional health of our kids if she is let go or moved to another school and/or position given how irreplaceable she is to our students, parents and teachers in the role she currently has.

Coronado Unified District HR Manager Donna Tripi told me on July 8 that an announcement will be made regarding Ms. White in a couple of days. While we hope this announcement celebrates, rewards, and communicates that Ms. White will continue to be Village's Assistant Principal, based on a number of reasons, including a staff list circulated to teachers that omitted her name, parents have concerns that will not be the case. In a district that prides itself on transparency, actions like this are causing parental confusion regarding one of our most treasured and valued leaders. It is important that families have an opportunity to stand up and speak up for a leader who stands up for our children every day.

We encourage parents to sign this so that Ms. White, our students, and our treasured staff and educators understand how much their dedication means to us. You are there for our kids. We are here for you.
