These churches means so much more to me and my family than just being a building. St Mary’s was the church I attended every weekend when I was growing up and still attend now. It’s where I was christened and received my Holy Communion, and it holds so many special memories from my childhood. I’ve taken part in church plays there, celebrated important moments there, and grown up feeling like it was a part of our family and our community. 

I know I’m not the only person who has memories like these. So many people have their own stories, celebrations, friendships and special moments connected to these churches.

Church has always been a safe place for people and for my family church has been a saviour during times of grievance and a home in times of need .

Many people in both communities have loved ones interned in the memorial gardens located in these churches and visit regularly . If these churches were to close families would be without this . 

The thought of these closing is heartbreaking, and I really believe we need to come together and make our voices heard.

Let’s stand together and fight to save a place that has been such a huge part of our lives and our community.
