Keep SPCA at Annapolis Mall

Keep SPCA at Annapolis Mall
The Issue
My son and I spend precious moments together at the Annapolis Mall, not just to shop or eat, but to visit the SPCA pet adoption center. It has become part of our routine and something genuinely meaningful in our lives. Through those visits, my son has been learning compassion, empathy, and responsibility toward animals. We have even been looking forward to adopting from the center ourselves in the near future.
SPCA's PAWS At The Mall has connected more than 2,500 animals with homes.
The news that the SPCA was given only 30 days to vacate the Annapolis Mall is deeply upsetting. First and foremost, this decision impacts vulnerable animals who depend on visibility, human connection, and adoption opportunities to find loving homes. Beyond that, it is heartbreaking for families like mine and for so many members of the Annapolis community. Beyond that, the 30 day timeline is both unreasonable and inhumane to the animals.
This facility is far more than a storefront. It serves as a haven for animals searching for forever homes and as a community space where families can learn, volunteers can contribute, and children can experience firsthand the importance of kindness and humane treatment of animals.
The SPCA’s presence at the mall makes pet adoption accessible and visible to thousands of people who may never otherwise consider adoption. Its convenient location near the library and other family-centered spaces creates natural opportunities for children and adults alike to interact with animals, ask questions, and develop a deeper appreciation for animal welfare. Those interactions lead directly to higher adoption rates, increased community involvement, and more animals finding safe, loving homes.
Removing the SPCA from the Annapolis Mall would not just displace an adoption center. It would remove a valuable educational and community resource that has positively impacted countless families and animals alike.
We respectfully ask the mall management and all involved parties to recognize the tremendous value the SPCA brings to the Annapolis community and to work toward a solution that allows the organization to remain in the mall.
Please sign this petition if you agree. Let the new owners of the Annapolis Mall know that this space matters. Help ensure the SPCA can continue its mission, continue saving animals, and continue giving families the joy, compassion, and connection that this center brings to our community every single day.
