Happy December to you all - I hope you are keeping warm. I have some updates to the Sidley Car Park campaign.
Thank you to everyone who has signed and shared this petition so far. My fellow Councillors are talking about this, it is having an impact.
The wonderful Mr Taylor from All Saints School has written a very compelling email to Councillors outlining how the pay-to-park proposals would impact the school, which has been supported by an email from the County Councillor too.
As mentioned in my last update, there is an item on the 9th December Cabinet agenda which broadly relates to this. The decision will not be made until next year after the consultation, but I intend to use this item to speak to the strength of feeling behind this petition. If we could reach over 1000 signatures before then, that would be fantastic.
What you can do to help support the campaign:
- Share the petition on social media
- Post a link to the petition in local Facebook Groups
- Email members of the Rother District Council Cabinet outlining why you think charging for parking in Sidley is not a good idea (details can be found on the RDC website)
- Complete Rother's Budget Consultation if you haven't already: https://www.rother.gov.uk/consultations/council-budget-2025/
Thank you all, the support for this campaign means a lot.
Kindest regards,
Sam
