Our community values Shabbona Lake State Park as a place of recreation. We do not want the park to be given to the Potawatomi for fear of future development within the park and loss of tax revenue. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has managed this park effectively, ensuring its natural beauty and accessibility for all visitors. Changing ownership could jeopardize these efforts and lead to unwanted commercial development that would disrupt our cherished green space.
