The Issue
I have been a loyal Samsung user for a long time because this brand offers a unique experience that stands out from the rest. Samsung Messages isn't just an app; it's a core part of the One UI interface that I rely on daily. I absolutely love its aesthetics, its seamless integration, and specifically how it functions on my device.
Samsung has recently announced that the native "Samsung Messages" application will be discontinued in July 2026. This decision forces users to switch to Google Messages, something many of us vehemently disagree with. If I wanted a pure Google experience, I would have opted for a Pixel device. However, I chose Samsung for a reason, and removing this native feature undermines the very essence of what gives Samsung its unique identity.
Design consistency is a major aspect contributing to the desirability of Samsung devices. Samsung Messages is perfectly integrated into the One UI ecosystem, designed for one-handed use with visual aesthetics that match our devices far better than Google Messages could. It’s not just software; it's part of the user experience that Samsung has developed and refined over the years.
Furthermore, removing Samsung Messages means disrupting the user experience for millions of loyal users worldwide. Forcing us into Google's ecosystem for basic tasks like messaging dilutes the uniqueness that Samsung stands for. A custom user interface becomes meaningless if core applications that fundamentally enhance this experience are eliminated.
I represent a significant portion of Galaxy users who share these sentiments. We need Samsung to listen to its users and rethink this decision, maintaining Samsung Messages as a pillar of the One UI system. We urge Samsung Electronics Leadership and the Software Development team to consider the values of their loyal user base.
Please join me in urging Samsung to keep Samsung Messages active beyond 2026 by signing this petition. Let’s preserve the heritage of Samsung’s unique mobile experience.
