Keep Sam Goody alive (especially in St. Clairsville, OH)
The Issue
Sam Goody was always the place to check out the latest records and music but times have changed in the past decades with digital platforms such as Amazon and Spotify, now it makes it easier to find what you’re looking for without having to go in person. People enjoy the accessibility of having songs, etc. at their fingertips but others still remember when they could go to music stores and find a great variety of products. If Sam Goody closes, people will lose a sense of belonging that was always there. A piece of nostalgia and culture was important to those who remember shopping or those that worked here. It wasn’t just a store, it was an experience and one that people never forgot. Just seeing they’re their pink neon signage with original writing was exciting! There are still some people that prefer to shop in person rather than online. We live in such a fast paced digital world now, that it makes it hard to be able to see what you’re getting and know if you’re getting a quality item. There are many big name stores closing and it’s changing the way we look at retail as a whole. There were always fond memories associated with them and closing them means less options. Discovering them sparked a genuine interest in me and their culture. It also made me realize how important these stores are, especially for the younger generation. There are many mall stores today that don’t compare with Sam Goody being such a prominent figure in the community/communities around the country. This also place made the mall and shopping centers more vibrant and exciting, with the most memorable slogan ever! It was a fixture of the 80’s that will always be memorable for many.
