The Issue

We are asking the Buffalo Board of Education to reconsider the proposed closure of PS 82, the Ronald Peoples School of Scholars.

Ronald Peoples was more than an educator. He was a mentor, a leader, and a dedicated servant to the children and families of Buffalo. Throughout his career, he devoted himself to education, mentorship, and creating opportunities for generations of students.

His legacy represents perseverance, leadership, education, and the importance of having strong Black representation within our schools and communities.

A school carrying Ronald Peoples’ name should be more than a building with his name attached to it. It should remain a living representation of the values he stood for and the countless lives he influenced.

Closing the Ronald Peoples School of Scholars would change more than the use of a building. It would affect a community institution connected to the legacy of a man who dedicated his life to Buffalo’s children.

We believe the legacy of Ronald Peoples deserves to remain connected to a school serving students and families.

We ask the Buffalo Board of Education to preserve PS 82 as the Ronald Peoples School of Scholars and allow his legacy of education, mentorship, leadership, and service to continue inspiring future generations.

Sign this petition. Stand for the legacy of Ronald Peoples.
