Keep Riot Fest in its Humboldt Park Home

Keep Riot Fest in its Humboldt Park Home
The Issue
26th Ward Alderman Maldonado has gone on record stating that the community does not want Riot Fest to return to Humboldt Park and has vowed not to support the event. We believe he is unequivocally wrong in his assessment. The community benefits from the positive experience that festival-goers have when they attend Riot Fest. Businesses around the Park benefit from the increased traffic during the Riot Fest weekend, and the park has benefitted from the improvements following the event, not to mention Riot Fest's year-round commitment to the Humboldt Park community through fund raisers, food drives, and charitable donations focusing on bettering the community.
Although it was unfortunate that it rained before and during 2014's festival, Riot Fest has been, and continues to be, committed to fixing damaged areas and improving the park. Multiple Chicago Park District supervisors approved the contracted renovations, which were initiated immediately following the festival cleanup and continues as the spring plantings emerge. Let your voice be heard! Urge 26th ward Alderman Maldonado and the Chicago Park District to allow Riot Fest to remain in Humboldt Park and to issue Riot Fest permits to operate in the Park.
