Keep playgroups at the Mollie Hirshberg Learning Center: Quincy's Babies deserve better!
The Issue
The Step One Early Intervention playgroup at the Mollie Hirshberg Learning Center is a lifeline for 80-100 families with babies and toddlers with developmental needs from Quincy, Randolph, and Milton. In playgroup, children choose songs, practice sharing and taking turns, try new foods, and play on indoor and outdoor playgrounds; milestones that matter deeply for their development. Children who came through this program are now thriving in public schools.
This purpose-built center has specialized rooms, outdoor space, and compassionate staff who support not just our children but parents going through one of the hardest seasons of their lives.
On June 30th, we lose this center, as it's slated for demolition. Playgroups are being relocated to a smaller, shared facility with no outdoor area, not equipped for our most vulnerable babies.
We urge Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch and Aspire Health to work together to keep these playgroups at the Mollie Hirshberg Learning Center. If demolition is unavoidable, we demand an equivalent or better space — purpose-built, fully equipped, with outdoor access. Our babies deserve nothing less. Please sign this petition.
