Planned Parenthood of Michigan is planning to close its Marquette location; the only Planned Parenthood clinic serving Michigan’s entire Upper Peninsula. This decision would strip vital healthcare from thousands of people in one of the most medically underserved rural regions in the state.

According to the National Rural Health Association, 80% of rural areas in America are medically underserved, and Michigan’s U.P. is no different (source: National Rural Health Association). With the clinic's closure, the healthcare crisis in rural areas would only deepen.

Without this clinic, people across the U.P. will face devastating barriers to accessing the care they need: driving hours to the nearest provider, delaying critical services, or going without care altogether. Planned Parenthood has been a trusted resource for countless people in our region, and its absence will leave a dangerous gap in care.
