After the countless tragedies that have happened in our schools, 27 of them in just 2022 alone we NEED to make change. Yesterday, an armed 18 year old entered an elementary school in Texas and began opening fire. Killing innocent children and teachers. A locked door or better security system could've prevented this. This effects families all over the world, as we all send our children to school, to be safe.. and the sad reality is, they are NOT safe. 

Our children practice lockdown drills, to hide from "bad guys".. causing many of them anxiety. Why not instead, prevent the bad guys from entering and/or employ officers or armed guards to make the children feel safe and protected, instead of fearful. When my daughter was in pre-k, after her first lockdown drill she asked me, "What happens if the bad guy finds us?" My heart broke. 

We live in a new time, and we need to adjust our safety guidelines accordingly. I understand armed guards, metal detectors, increased security systems may not all be possible but at least ONE of the above is. 1 single security guard sitting at a desk, with no means to counter an attack, does not give our children protection.

I am calling on officials to PROTECT OUR STUDENTS.

During the pandemic, they ensured us our children were safe at school, and listed all the mitigations for keeping covid out of the classrooms. I'd like them to ensure me my children are safe from gun violence, and give me a list of how they are ensuring this.. they are failing our children. 

We need one or all of the following at EVERY school:

security systems such as cameras/buzzer system at all doors,

metal detectors to keep weapons out of the schools

armed guards or officers on campus

I promise you, this is not too much to ask - it is COMMON SENSE.

Our schools need to be protected and prevent the 28th shooting of 2022.

This is a call on our elected officials COUNTRYWIDE.
