Keep Our Skies Safe: Demand Stronger Drone Safety Rules Near Airports

Keep Our Skies Safe: Demand Stronger Drone Safety Rules Near Airports
The Issue
We all love new tech, but not when it puts people’s lives at risk. Right now, drones are coming way too close to passenger planes—and it’s happening more and more near some of the busiest airports in the country.
That’s not okay.
Just last year, drones were involved in nearly two-thirds of all near-collisions reported at major U.S. airports. Some pilots even had to take evasive action to avoid a crash. One drone was spotted just 50 feet from a plane’s wing during landing. This is a disaster waiting to happen.
We’re calling on the FAA to take real, urgent action to stop it:
- Require geofencing tech on all drones to block them from flying near airports
- Crack down harder on illegal drone flights with steeper fines and real consequences
- Educate drone users about airspace rules and the risks of unsafe flying
- Invest in detection and counter-drone systems so airports can stop threats before it’s too late
Most drone operators are just trying to have fun or work, but the reckless few are putting everyone at risk. Let’s close the gaps before tragedy strikes.
Sign this petition to tell the FAA: It’s time to get serious about drone safety. Our skies—and our lives—depend on it.
