Wow!

We’ve managed to get a quarter of a million signatures in 24 hours!!

This petition is already having an impact but there’s still more to do.

We have politicians rushing to tweet their opposition and Trump appears to have ‘back-tracked’, but this is not the time to be complacent. 

We cannot underestimate the power and influence of the US private healthcare lobby, which funds many of the politicians in the US Congress. The pressure for our NHS to be ‘opened up’ will be immense. Our prime minister, despite being repeatedly asked, has refused to rule out US access to NHS contracts. Moreover, I have zero faith, that a Boris-led no-deal mess of government, will have any qualms selling it off, in their desperation for a trade deal.

A “tweet’ from our health secretary is not enough, particularly given we have no idea who will be running the country next month! We need a formal guarantee from this government, that there will be no involvement, of any part of our NHS, in a US trade deal. 

We need to keep up the pressure to get our message across to this government. Healthcare is a human right, not a commodity to be profited from.
