Good news everyone!
After being postponed in late December, our Zoom meeting the RMNP Superintendent Darla Sidles and Press Officer Kyle Patterson has been rescheduled for Friday, January 7th, from 1pm to 2pm mountain time.
We know it’s late notice. And if you can’t make it, we’ll record it so you can watch it later (we’ll have a transcript made too). We’re thankful we finally have a chance to meet face to face and discuss the many concerns and issues you’ve brought up in your conversations with us. We all love the Park!
Speaking of that, the best way to participate and help now is to answer the three questions below. This is YOUR chance to make sure YOUR voice is heard. We can make sure that happens, if you’re able to take the time to reply in the next twenty-four hours.
Question #1: In two sentences or less, why do you oppose a reservation system in Rocky Mountain National Park?
Question #2: What is one suggestion you have that would help the National Park Service solve its operational and communication problems?
Question #3: Why does this matter to you, or why do you care about what happens to future visitors to RMNP?
That’s it!
We’re going to make a short presentation with ideas, questions, and concerns we’ve already gathered. And we have some specific suggestions on how to preserve the Park’s resources and solve operational problems without unfair and unnecessary restrictions.
Also, we’re going to ask—again—that the reservation system for 2022 be dropped in favor of transparent and equal process where the public is part of the solution.
In the meantime, if you can take ten minutes to answer those questions, e-mail them to dan.denning@gmail.com and we’ll make sure they’re personally presented to the Superintendent on Friday.
Until then, Happy New Year and thanks for your support for the idea that public lands belong to the people.
Dan
