Keep Our Land – Residents Deserve a say
The Issue
We, the residents of our Persimmon development, are coming together to raise our concerns about the recent removal and disturbance of a piece of land within our community.
When many of us purchased our homes and moved onto the development, we were informed that this particular piece of land would remain as it was. We therefore understood that it would continue to form part of the surrounding community and would not be removed or significantly changed without residents being made aware.
On 31/8/2026 , the land was unexpectedly ripped up without residents being given prior notice or the opportunity to understand what was happening or why. This has caused considerable concern and frustration among residents.
We believe that residents who live on this development should be kept informed about significant changes to land and spaces surrounding their homes, particularly where previous information given to residents indicated that the land would remain.
Since the land has been ripped up, residents are also concerned that the road and surrounding area are no longer sufficient for the number of vehicles using the development.
The removal of this space has reduced the available room around the road and has made parking significantly more difficult for residents and visitors. There is now very limited parking available, leaving many residents struggling to find a safe and suitable place to park their vehicles.
The road also feels too narrow to comfortably accommodate the amount of traffic and parked vehicles within the development. This creates concerns about access, congestion and safety, particularly when vehicles are parked along the road and larger vehicles, such as emergency services, delivery vehicles and refuse vehicles, need to pass through.
We believe that the impact of removing this land on parking, road access and the safety of residents needs to be properly considered. We are asking Persimmon Homes to provide a clear explanation of how parking and access are expected to work now that this land has been removed, and what measures will be put in place to ensure residents have adequate and safe access to their homes.
