Thank you to everyone who came out tonight in support of our Ponte Vedra Bolles community. With more than 100 parents in attendance, we sent a strong message that we are a united community, committed to preserving our beloved school and protecting the health of our children and teachers.
During the meeting, Tyler Hodges, our head of school, shared that Bolles is working closely with the PGA Tour and that the school’s end goal is for the tower to be moved. Neither he nor the PGA spokesman in attendance were able to guarantee this outcome. That said, the PGA Tour spokesman confirmed that they have stopped the construction of the cell tower and will begin assessing other possible sites for the tower to be located. This reassessment will take 10 weeks and will be conducted by two external consultants. Tyler assured the audience that Bolles will stay in close contact with the PGA Tour through this process and will also continue to work on its own to protect the school’s interests.
Throughout the meeting many parents expressed their disappointment with the current location having made its way through the parameters set by the PGA Tour and the county more broadly as an acceptable site given its proximity to elementary school students. The PGA spokesman explained the reason for the relocation of the cell tower was part of the master plan for the construction of the new headquarters building and allowed for the entrance to the facility off of Palm Valley Road.
As follow-up, we expect Bolles to send out a summary of the meeting to all parents. Additionally, the school is working to gauge family’s interests in potentially re-locating students from the Ponte Vedra campus to other campuses should that become necessary. Please keep an eye out for this survey and complete it when you receive it.
As the school year officially comes to a close tomorrow, please keep this issue front of mind. We will continue to send out updates as we receive them. Stay active and engaged!
