Keep our KIDS SAFE!

The Issue

Students who are front walkers who attend Northwoods Elementary safety is being risked when walking to and from school by the lack of no crossing guard at the intersection of Elm St. and Williams St.

Student safety is at high risk while walking to school from home and back because there is no safe sidewalk or bike path on Elm St. or  Williams St. for children to safely walk or ride their bikes to and from school.

As a mom of three young children and being a former classroom teacher, military spouse and with my oldest child attending NWE as a first grade student, safety is my #1 concern for ALL students.

Safety is a TOP priority for ALL parents.

The area is heavily congested with vehicles in the afternoon for pick up and with school personnel no longer being allowed to supervise students to safely walk down the streets- creates a CHAOTIC environment for EVERYONE as many of the students range from Kindergartners to 6th graders.

If parents are running late or there is a last minute emergency - students are then left to the responsibility of other parents, as we worry for their safety being alone at this intersection or on the street in general. With the lack of school personnel no longer being able to monitor who is picked up and who isn’t- leaves those children who are not picked up on time- ALONE.

Lastly, with many sex offenders residing within close proximity, we NEED to fully RESOLVE this major SAFETY ISSUE to aide in PREVENTION from ANY and ALL students safety being RISKED.
