The Issue

As a resident of the scenic Texas Hill Country, I have always cherished the serene beauty of our night skies. But recently, this has been overshadowed by digital signs, spot lights, and bright lights.

Light pollution affects not only our environment but also our health and quality of life. Studies have shown that excessive artificial lighting disrupts wildlife and interferes with human circadian rhythms, leading to sleep disorders and other health issues. As stewards of the environment and active members of this community, it is our responsibility to address and mitigate these environmental and public health challenges.

There are numerous alternatives that can achieve the intended purpose of signs without compromising safety or our night skies. Options such as reducing the brightness, repositioning the sign, or using downward-facing, shielded lighting can drastically reduce glare while still making signs visible and effective for their intended purpose.

I urge the relevant authorities and the companies responsible for digital signs and spot lights by reconsidering and modifying the current setup, we can preserve the safety and natural beauty of our community.

Please join me in signing this petition to modify these signs and spotlights.  Together, we can restore the tranquility of our night skies for everyone in the Texas Hill Country.
