Keep Our Children's School Open: Say No to Portables

The Issue

As a concerned parent, I am raising my voice against the proposed closure of my children's school. The decision to close it threatens the quality, safety, and effectiveness of their education. The plan states that portables will be used as a substitute, which is not an adequate solution. Our children will be required to walk to these makeshift classrooms during inclement weather, enduring rain and chilling temperatures.

This proposal clearly indicates a disregard for the safety and welfare of our children. The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development suggests that environmental factors, such as physical infrastructure, play a role in academic outcomes. This decision to expose our children to harsh weather conditions could deter their learning process (National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, 2021).

The inconvenience of relocating to portable classrooms also impacts the quality of education provided. Such temporary arrangements can disrupt the consistency and stability necessary for effective learning.

We urge the school board to reconsider this decision and remember their commitment to ensuring a conducive and safe learning environment for our children. We call on them to prioritize the preservation of our school and the future of our youngsters who look up to them. Your signature can make a big difference. Please sign this petition and show your support for keeping our children's school open.
