Keep Our Administrators At Piner High School

Keep Our Administrators At Piner High School
The Issue
We are Piner High School students. We are asking for your help to keep Vice-Principal Ryan Thompson and Assistant Principal Norma Vasquez at Piner High School.
In a surprise move the Santa Rosa City Schools district administration has re-assigned our trusted adult to a different school site and has gotten rid of important leadership. Here at Piner we have an amazing team built and without these two amazing people something would be missing.
Mr. Thompson is a wonderful and understanding person who plays a huge role in keeping our campus happy but at the same time safe. He had big shoes to fill from the 2023-2024 school year with Mr. Kennedy and he definitely filled that role. If you see Mr. Thompson he is always running around with a big smile with good energy to make sure Piner is at its best on the daily. Here are the following qualifications why we are demanding for SRCS to keep Mr. Thompson at our site. This is what students are saying:
- He advocates for the Grace community
- He is very helpful and understanding
- He is very open minded
- He advocates for students with 504s, IEPs and other students with other needs
- He is a very approachable adult who we fully trust
- He is very positive and outgoing
- He takes his time to build positive relationships with students, staff members and parents
- He is very encouraging and understanding
- He is willing to go above and beyond to help students
Example: Supporting students with gardening and whenever they are in trouble. - He is very effective in communicating
- He is always at all the sports games.
- He is always innovative and coming up with great ideas for student education
Losing Mr. Thompson would create a big shift in our positive school culture and the SRCS administrators would be taking Mr. Thompson away whom we fully trust and feel safe with.
Another big part of our leadership team at Piner is Assistant Principal Norma Vasquez. She is always out all over campus helping students find their way to class and always is trusted to be a person to talk to when we need it. This is what students are saying about Ms. Vasquez:
- She is a trusted adult who we feel safe with
- She has a connection with students
- She is always helping out around campus
- She looks out for students perspectives
- She is very understanding
- She is heartwarming
- Her leadership is needed in the team of administrators
She has great insight for students to be successful Loosing Ms. Vasquez at Piner High School would misballence our Piner High School leadership team.
We students of Piner High School are deeply concerned, feel confused, disappointed, and feel a great sense of loss and uncertainty about the future. We are demanding for the SRCS administration, President of the Board Roxane McNally, the SRCS Board members and student representative to immediately reassign Vice Principal Ryan Thompson back to Piner High School for the 2025-2026 school year and keep Assistant Principal Norma Vasquez at our site. At Piner High School we need 4 Administrators to make sure we can keep our campus safe given our increased enrollment.
Sincerely,
Brandon Foster,
Angelina Olivares,
Anais Lopez,
Izzac Lopez and the student body of Piner High School.
