I'm writing this petition out of a deep sense of urgency and hope. As an employee at the OfficeMax located in Manitowoc WI, I am reaching out to you, our valued community and decision-makers, in an effort to keep our beloved store open. For myself, like many others, this store is more than just a workplace—it's a vital part of our community fabric.

Our store doesn't just provide office supplies; it's a key resource for many—students printing their projects, small businesses needing supplies, and those last-minute binders for a presentation. It's an accessible, reliable spot in our city where residents know they can get the help and supplies they need. We all witness the heart-warming sight of our community members meeting and helping each other here.

While there are talks of replacing this store, it's crucial to consider the impact it would have on both the employees and the entire community. With limited alternatives for printing and mailing needs, such as FedEx or local print shops, many people rely on OfficeMax for services that can't easily be replaced. If this store closes, not only will it cause job losses for individuals like myself, but it will also leave a significant gap in our local economy.

Update. As of april 10th 2026 we were given the unfortunate news our store will be closed to the public in june. I was told by contractors personally we would have 5 years to gather enough signatures to make goal. Sadly I would need to aquire 1,000 in order to make a significant impact on succeding our efforts of gaining the needed signatures that would stop the closure. However I still want to try and if not we are seeing yet again another pet store of petsmart and five below. I feel we could stop the pet store and maybe use officemax as a shared location. Although downsized we would still have a place for FedEx and printing needs. Only 2 locations do some prints but limited compaired to OfficeMax. Anyone with customer files be advised to come prepared with a means of flash drives or provided emails to gather your documents etc. They will be erased april 13th unless recovered by print staff. I am greatful to have served my community to my full potential.
