I have investigated the detrimental impacts of genetically modified organism (GMO) seeds, and Genetically engineered seeds that have had the DNA altered. I have observed not only their disastrous effects on farms round the world, but also on people's health, they cause poor health, low immunity, and have hugely negatve environmental problems. My concern lies in the recent decision by the National Government of New Zealand to remove the ban on genetically engineered (GE) seeds, and to allow grass seeds into NZ for farm animals to graze.

Studies have shown that GMO seeds have harmful effects on natural soil, causing dead soil and killing essential pollinators and insects and worms and bugs. Farmers then have dependence on Bayer for gmo seeds and toxic chemical sprays. Tragically, this is the exact destiny the New Zealand government is inviting onto our healthy living soil. The repercussions will be felt by all – killing not just our soil, our bees and pollinators and earthworms but disrupting the ecosystem on a broader scale. 

The health effects of GMO foods has been deeply worrying as well. Research suggests that GMO seeds can alter human DNA, lower immunity, and potentiate diseases. This became apparent in India, where the introduction of GMO seeds by multinational corporations led to widespread farm destruction, bankruptcy from dead soil and dead seeds from vegetables that don't grow living seeds and vegetables that cause health complications in people. 

New Zealand’s soil should be a place for growing healthy food and sustainability of seeds, not the breeding ground for unnatural and potentially damaging cultivations. GMO seeds are not the solution, they lead to death of NZ soil and health problems for NZ citizens, they lead us into the trap of non sustainable farming, seeds, pollinators and all insects die from the gmo plants, basically it will be the death of a country that was GMO free. Gmo seeds make multinational corporations like bayer (Monsanto) rich leaving farmers poor and people sick from the Roundup ready Gene altering vegetables and grass etc
