Keep New parks club for young people for the children
The Issue
We, the undersigned, are calling for New Parks Club for Young People to remain open and continue providing a safe, positive and supportive space for young people in our community.
New Parks Club was created for young people, and we believe it should remain a place where they can come together, make friends, take part in activities, learn new skills and receive support from trusted adults.
For many young people, the club is more than just a building. It is a safe space, a place to belong and somewhere they can go instead of being left without positive activities or support.
The club provides opportunities for young people to socialise, participate in activities and events, build confidence and develop relationships with staff and other young people. These opportunities are particularly important for young people who may not have access to other youth services.
We are concerned that closing the club could have a significant impact on young people and the wider New Parks community.
We are asking that:
- New Parks Club for Young People remains open and continues to provide youth services.
- The needs and views of local young people are properly considered before any decision is made.
- The community is given a meaningful opportunity to have its say about the future of the club.
- The building continues to be used for the benefit of young people and the local community.
- Investment and support are provided to ensure the club can continue offering positive activities, groups, events and opportunities for young people.
Closing the doors should not be the answer.
Our young people deserve somewhere safe to go, somewhere they feel welcome and somewhere they can be themselves.
