Our own Nantucket Wine & Food Festival has a local history of more than 25 years. In that time, it has brought millions of dollars of business to the island annually, while also supporting and partnering with charitable organizations big and small.

This past June, someone from off-island claimed that his Waltham-based company purchased the Nantucket Wine & Food Festival, but then admitted that he did not. There was no such acquisition.

Instead, they created something called Nantucket Food & Wine Experience and are trying to take over the annual event in May.

While many of the chefs and vintners come from around the world to participate in this annual island event, it has been a locally owned and operated festival since its inception in 1997.
