Why this petition matters

**Edited** TO CONFIRM THIS ISNT TO STATE MY KIDS WILL BE HOMELESS THIS IS TO STATE I WONT HAVE ANYWHERE TO TAKE THEM WHEN I HAVE THEM. SO ANYWHERE 2 BEDROOM WOULD BE NEEDED, BUT PRIORITY IS TO KEEP 12 SURREY ROAD. Unfortunately I lost my mam on 5th April 2022 suddenly due to covid. I had been staying at her house overnight while I would have my kids. My mams home was her home for 35 years and was my childhood home. I am currently living at South Shields dump called ridge house, I was down as homeless and even though I have 2 kids I required to sign a termination of my mams tenancy. I have just recently agreed to have my kids 4 days one week and three nights the next week with overnight stays based on I have a home for them to sleep. I have until 9th may to leave my mams home, but at that point I will not have anywhere to live. Or anywhere to keep my children. This breaks my heart and I am full of worry. The local council have said once I send court order across to prove how often I have Evie and Declan, then they will review my housing banding. What am I meant to do after the 9th of may as it can take upto 28 days. It’s hard enough losing a mother but looks like I’m going to lose her home. Everything in that house is mine along with a lifetime of memories, good and bad. I would require a two bedroom, Surely it would make sense to let stay at 12 Surrey Road and let continue to run a family home with my kids, my mam had not been dead 3 days before the council turned up demanding me to sign the termination. I have paid £384 from the day my mam died until 9th May. So I can prove I can afford Rent. Please please please sign my petition and help me fight to keep this house. I don’t want any preferential treatment but surely it makes sense to let me take over the tenancy. Anyone who has any questions about my battle to keep my mams house, won’t hesitate to drop me a message. Nothing will bring my mam back or my kids Nana, however being able to keep the house will bring a positive at this sad time and we would be the safest pair of hands the council could give the tenancy too. Anyone else would be gaining a house, Me and my small family would be gaining a ready made home. I’m hoping to get as many people to sign this to provide it to the council and maybe get the local newspaper onboard. Thankyou. Ryan.
