The management of Mullingar hospital are trying to close the paediatric diabetes service due to bad management and lack of staff 

This is a vital service that 145 children need and use on a daily basis. Help us keep this service open to keep our children safe and healthy. This service for the last number of years has been ran by a 5 member multidisciplinary team, at present, due to staffing issues, it's being ran on a minimal scale with just the Doctor, who is doing all he can to keep the clinics running single- handely under severe pressure

On a daily basis this means, we have no access to nursing support or pump support. Children with type 1 diabetes never have two days the same and constantly need ratio changes and advice from the diabetes team, there is a staff nurse trained in diabetes care in the wards however, hospital management won't allow her to move departments due to staff issues across the hospital. This is an ongoing issue and the diabetes should not be the one lose out on the life saving support it gives our children
