Keep Ms. Gandhi as Our TK Teacher Until the End of the Year!
The Issue
Petition to Keep Ms. Gandhi as the Transitional Kindergarten Teacher at Williams Elementary
To:
San José Unified School District (SJUSD)
Santa Clara County Office of Education
Williams Elementary School Administration
From:
Concerned Parents of Williams Elementary TK Students
We, the parents and guardians of the Transitional Kindergarten (TK) students at Williams Elementary, strongly urge the district and county to reconsider the rejection of Ms. Gandhi’s long-term substitute application and allow her to remain in the classroom through the end of the school year.
For the past several months, Ms. Gandhi has provided stability, warmth, and exceptional teaching to our children after their original teacher had to leave due to a family medical issue. The students have built a deep bond of trust and learning with her, and the sudden decision to remove her from the classroom is causing emotional distress to both students and parents alike.
We recognize the importance of credentialing requirements, but we also believe that student well-being, classroom continuity, and the extraordinary circumstances of this year must be considered. Dr. Blizzard has already advocated for Ms. Gandhi, and we, as parents, stand firmly in support of her remaining in place for the remainder of the school year.
We respectfully request the following actions:
- Immediate reconsideration of Ms. Gandhi’s application or an alternative solution that allows her to stay in the classroom.
- A temporary waiver or emergency credentialing option to ensure continuity for the children.
- A meeting with district officials to discuss potential resolutions that prioritize the well-being of our children.
Our TK students deserve stability, care, and a trusted educator who has already invested so much in their growth. We urge you to act quickly to allow Ms. Gandhi to remain with them.
