Keep Mr. Sleek, Mr. Bostic, Ms. Allen, + Ms. Scott : Protect Fort Frye’s Future

The Issue

Updated Information:

This petition highlights an unjust and concerning situation affecting a group of dedicated educators with a combined 120 years of teaching experience. These teachers have consistently demonstrated excellence in the classroom, earned top evaluations, and profoundly impacted their students’ lives. Despite their outstanding contributions, they are now facing an uncertain future.

Recently, these educators were informed that their positions would be advertised to seek potential long-term replacements. Their contracts may only be renewed if no suitable candidates are found, leaving them feeling undervalued and disrespected. While this decision may fall within the district’s contractual rights, it undermines the years of service, commitment, and results these teachers have provided to the district and its students.

Teaching is more than a profession—it’s a lifelong commitment to shaping minds and fostering growth. These educators’ collective 120 years of experience represent an invaluable resource for their school community. To reduce their roles to conditional terms is not only demoralizing but dismissive of their lasting impact on education and the lives of countless students.

This petition calls for a reassessment of this decision and an acknowledgment of the essential role that experienced teachers play in the district’s success. Join us in standing with these remarkable educators and advocating for the respect, fairness, and appreciation they have earned over decades of dedicated service. Let’s ensure their contributions are honored and valued.

Original Post: The Fort Frye community is rallying to protect the legacy and leadership of math teacher Andy Sleek, whose contract renewal is under threat for the upcoming school year. As a retire-and-rehire educator, Mr. Sleek has built one of the region’s most successful and innovative math programs, earning numerous accolades and shaping countless student successes. His students past and present credit his relentless dedication for preparing them for college, careers, and life beyond the classroom.

This proposal to remove Mr. Sleek raises serious concerns about leadership decisions in a district that claims “excellence is non-negotiable.” Replacing him with a less experienced teacher for the sake of cutting costs undermines the quality of education that Fort Frye students deserve.

We stand united in demanding the renewal of Andy Sleek’s contract to preserve the rigorous and modern math program that has flourished under his guidance. Sign this petition to honor his impact, voice your support, and ensure the administration prioritizes the success of its students over shortsighted decisions.

Share your name, memories, and gratitude to show the board how much this community values Mr. Sleek’s tireless efforts. Together, let’s give him his “It’s a Wonderful Life” moment and demonstrate that his work matters. Let’s flood the board with support and save a beloved teacher’s career.
