Keep Mr. Rosenberg at Cherry Hill East

The Issue

Recently, the Cherry Hill School District has decided to move Mr. Tom Rosenberg from his position at High School East to Carusi Middle School without giving any reason for doing so. With this petition, we hope to encourage the Board of Education, as well as the Cherry Hill community at large, to recognize the enormous negative effect that would result from this decision.

For the past 17 years, Mr. Rosenberg has made tremendous impact on hundreds of Cherry Hill High School East student's lives through his AP U.S. History 2 course. Mr. Rosenberg ensures that each student is engaged throughout the entire year - a feat only possible by a truly remarkable teacher. It is with genuine passion and enthusiasm that he is able to make his class the type that students would look forward to in their school day. Instead of merely talking at students, Mr. Rosenberg teaches in a way that makes students want to participate and learn more. One project in particular involves students dressing up as a historical figure of their choice accompanied by a biography of their life. Another fan favorite of Mr. Rosenberg's students, past a present, is his Presidential Bracket competition. This activity always results in energetic debate between evidently well-prepared students about which president was better. Even outside of the classroom, Mr. Rosenberg fosters student growth by holding early morning review sessions for students to get help before tests. As a pillar in the success of the Social Studies Department, he makes each student feel more than comfortable to ask questions, learn from mistakes, and grow as eager members of a global community especially in unprecedented times. While his impact on our lives is immeasurable, the outstanding AP U.S. History Test scores of Cherry Hill East students should serve as a calculable testament.

Considering the pivotal role that Mr. Rosenberg has played in helping students discover their own love of learning, it would be a disservice to the Cherry Hill East community to move him to Carusi. Future students deserve the experience that has been afforded to those lucky enough to have had Mr. Rosenberg as a teacher. That said, we urge the Cherry Hill Board of Education to reconsider their decision and allow Mr. Rosenberg to continue to touch the lives of each student who passes through his classroom.
