1. Final Board of Trustees Meeting – June 11
The Upper Canada District School Board has one last meeting before the 2025–2026 budget is finalized:

📅 Tuesday, June 11, 2025
📍 UCDSB Board Office, 225 Central Ave. W., Brockville
🕕 6:30 PM

This is our most important chance to show the trustees how much the Char-Lan music program — and Mr. Glanville — mean to our community.

Even if just 10 people attend, it sends a message. But the more visible support, the stronger the impression.
✅ Wear a Clan Stock shirt or something that clearly shows why you’re there.
🚫 You won’t be able to speak during the meeting, but quiet, respectful presence matters.
🤝 If possible, introduce yourself to trustees before or after the meeting — especially our new trustee, Elizabeth Steinberg, and ideally the Chair or any others you can connect with. Even a short conversation can leave a lasting impact.

💡Pro tip: Let them know in advance that some people plan to attend. It helps ensure trustees are more prepared and more likely to ask questions or push for alternatives — as long as it's done respectfully and without pressure.

2. Email Campaign: Your Stories Matter
We’re launching a community-wide email campaign to the UCDSB trustees — and we need your help.

🎯 Goal: 100 personal emails.
If every Clan Stock family encourages five friends, relatives, or community members to send a message, we’ll reach that easily.

Here’s what makes an email effective:

Speak from the heart: Share a short personal story or explain why the Char-Lan music program matters to you or your child.

Keep it respectful and sincere. Avoid copy-paste templates. Personalized messages make a real difference.

Please send emails to the following addresses:

Superintendent of the School: Marsha McNair – marsha.mcnair@ucdsb.on.ca

Chair of the Board: Jamie Schoular – jamie.schoular@ucdsb.on.c

Director of Education: Ron Ferguson – ron.ferguson@ucdsb.on.ca

3. Know the Challenge — and the Opportunity
You may hear that “trustees have no control.” But the truth is more complex. While there’s a culture of distancing trustees from operational decisions, but that doesn’t mean that they are powerless. They set the budget and define priorities.

They do have influence, especially when there’s public presence, strong stories, and sustained advocacy.

By showing up and speaking out, we remind them that this program matters and that cutting rural arts education has real consequences.

Now is the time to act.
Let’s make sure they know how deeply this community values Mr. Glanville and the music program at Char-Lan.

Thank you for standing with us ~let’s finish strong.
