The Issue

In 2017 Monica rose to fame by organizing her 1st protest alongside Black Lives Matter in the city of Boston. She organized 45,000 people in response to the tragedies of Charlottesville Virginia.  It was at that moment that she got on the radar of the local white supremacist as well as self hating POC.  In 2020 Monica did it again and organized a protest of 55,000 people in the city of Boston without 1 arrest, 1 of the only peaceful protests in the city at the time Which pissed off not just elected officials but white supremacists across the nation.  At the height of the pandemic along with local volunteers Monica was able to feed 80,000 people.  With the help of survivor families Elizabeth Warren and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Monica was able to get 2 pieces of legislation passed.

The part we are leaving out is that when Monica organized her 1st protest in 2017 that is when she got on the radar of the Joint Terrorism Task Force of the FBI.  They begin texting her phone trying to obtain information about protest and prohibit her from protesting.  In 2020 the federal government decided enough was enough and raided Monica's house arresting both her and her husband claiming that they had committed fraud.  2 years later  While raising her 6 children she continues to fight this case now with her husband being murdered She stands alone.  Recently she agreed to change her plea due to multiple factors impacting her

We are demanding that she not be forced to enter into a prison system that has a history of harming black women like Monica Cannon-Grant because not only do we believe these charges are unfounded, but she has been One of the few Black women activists in the city of Boston willing to say the things that most people will not.
