The Issue

To all whom have been nurtured by and blessed to grow up in this wonderful place, Hawaii Nei, let us resoundingly voice our demand to keep May Day a Hawaiian event by keeping the Pledge of Allegiance out of May Day programs - now, and moving forward!  To capture the spirit of Aloha we have for Hawai’i, we ask to include the song ‘Hawai’i Aloha’ in the program instead. Let us channel our kupuna nui who signed the Kūʻē Petitions in 1897 and say, "`A`ole! This Day is Ours!"  As that wise saying goes: "Ka wa ma mua ka wa ma hope," that is, to know where we're going, look to the past.   Although we are beset on all sides by external forces trying to change Hawaii, let us be the anchor and `Onipa`a!  It is a new age of enlightenment, and the future looks bright as long as we standfast! If you are able, please include what Hawai’i elementary school you graduated from, what year you had grad, and how many kids or moʻopuna/grandkids you have going to elementary school in Hawai’i. Please pass along to the message and no forget to include tutu! Aloha a me mahalo piha
