Lancaster City Museum is facing a 40% cut to its budget. One proposal is to reduce the museum's opening from the current six days a week to three from October 1. 

The Friends of Lancaster City Museum are spearheading opposition to this measure which, if enacted, would be devastating for residents and visitors, and would damage Lancaster's reputation as a heritage city. 

2023 marks the museum's centenary year.  

At a Budget Council meeting on February 22, councillors invited the Friends to work with Lancaster City Council to explore alternative solutions to offset the budget cut. We welcome this approach.
