KEEP Knight Quest- Stop CFHS Schedule Change

KEEP Knight Quest- Stop CFHS Schedule Change
The Issue
Help Save Knight Quest!
📢 CFHS Students & Parents: Your Voice Matters! 📢
Our school is implementing major changes (RISE + split Knight Quest) on top of the new statewide phone ban (HB 1481). This will hurt our clubs, reduce class time, and eliminate the social/academic benefits of Knight Quest that we all love!
WHAT WE'RE ASKING:
- Please SIGN THE PETITION supporting our letter to CFHS Administrators of grievances to reconsider Knight Quest changes
- Full Letter Here: RISE Knight Quest Letter
- Hold a community forum during Knight Bash/U to discuss alternatives and inquiries
- Listen to student & parent concerns before implementing
- Scroll down for presented solutions
PROBLEMS:
- Knight was a beneficial, "power- hour," allowing students to plan their time individually to eat lunch, study, complete homework, go to tutorials, and interact with friends from the entire school. The new schedule with RISE and Splitting Knight Quest, means that students will loose personal autonomy and many other benefits...
- Clubs suffer: 27 clubs, 10 honor societies, and fine arts can't meet with only 5 RISE slots/week. After school meetings limit involvement! (sports, license, etc.)
- Lost independence: No more choosing how to use our time, such as studying, travelling across campus, eating lunch in various places, attend club meetings
- Major changes at once: Phone ban, no Restroom doors, RISE, AND Knight Quest changes are overwhelming
- Social isolation: Split Knight Quest = no guaranteed time with friends
- Less learning time: Class periods cut down to 45 minutes
- 10:30 AM lunch: Too early after breakfast, for HALF the school
SOLUTIONS:
- Option 1: ✅ Keep Knight Quest, RISE, longer classes, AND let clubs meet!
Combine RISE + Knight Quest into one 60-min period. Allowing drafted students to attend RISE tutorials during the first half, while non- drafted students could utilize the full hour for traditional Knight Quest. This approach would maintain our old 49-minute class periods and preserve scheduling efficiency. If a student does not attend their RISE drafted session, some sort of disciplinary action could be taken. Also, people must check their laptops to see if they’re drafted in 4th- why not create the Lunch Pre- Order App online through the same portal too because of no phones to alleviate the lines? - Option 2: ✅ Keep their version RISE, shorter Knight Quest & classes, let clubs meet!
Do RISE, then Knight Quest for everyone. Eliminate the split Knight Quest, instead scheduling 4th period for all students at 10:30-11:15, followed by a 45-minute OV Knight Quest period for everyone with an A/B lunch bell at the 22-minute mark. Although timings for club meetings might be short, it would be adequate to maintain social connections and preserve the flexibility that has made Knight Quest valuable to us. - Option 3: ✅ RISE & KnightQuest, different times
Create another schedule (Similar to our Uknighted Schedule) with RISE daily in place of Uknighted, and an OV KQ.- OV= Original Version of Knight Quest. All students are at lunch during the same time. Travel to teachers’ classes for academic help in tutorials, walk across campus halls, eat in various places, attend club/NHS’s meetings.
Only with compromise in our educational community, will it be a “Great Day to be a Knight.”
