We have recently discovered that Maker with Rame Parish Council (MwR PC) has put forward a proposal for all three of Kingsand & Cawsand’s village beaches to carry a seasonal dog ban from Easter through to October. 

Currently, a dog ban exists on Cawsand beach during July and August between the hours of 10am and 6pm, whilst the two beaches in Kingsand remain dog friendly all year round. 

The villages have always prided themselves on their pet friendly appeal, with safe, sheltered beaches for dog walks and with many pubs, shops and eateries welcoming four legged friends. 

The decision will not only affect the enjoyment of local dog walkers, it could deter day trippers and holiday makers too - many of whom choose to visit the area due to its dog friendly ethos. Fewer dog friendly beaches will lead to fewer visitors, and fewer visitors will lead to local businesses suffering.
