A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SIGNED THE PETITION AND SHARED THEIR THOUGHTS ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT

I just wanted to give you all a brief update on the status of the development and next steps for the Campaign.

In July 2023, the Government appointed a Planning Inspector to review RBKC's Local Plan (aka the "New Local Plan Review").

Over a 3 week period of "Examination Hearings" (attended  by representatives from RBKC , Ballymore and St William) with oral and written submissions from  various individuals representing for example,  Friends of Kensal Green Cemetery , the Kensington Society and other groups - outlining their concerns about the development.

Kensal Canalside was only one of the developments being discussed, but because of it's size and scale- it was allocated a decent amount of time.

Long story short,  I think its fair to say Ms Helen Wilson,( the programme officer who reports to the Planning Inspector who also chaired the meeting) asked some pretty `'pointed`' questions about the scale of the development, whether it was appropriate for the area given the impact on Heritage buildings - and the issue of site Contamination.

Personally, I think the issue of Contamination is absolutely key and needs to be addressed by the developers when they submit their final applications to RBKC at the end of August.

NEXT STEPS

1. Please spread the word and share the video with local residents and RA's
2. Please continue to share the Petition link and get more people to sign
3. Please write to your local councillors/MP's and RBKC to express your concerns about the current development  - in favour of a high density, low rise, eco friendly alternative with 35% affordable housing.

NEXT WEEK I'LL UPLOAD SOME USEFUL TIPS/GUIDELINES ON  - HOW TO WRITE AN OBJECTION LETTER  - TO OUR CAMPAIGN WEBSITE

( ie. you have to include the RBKC Reference for the development and the relevant Planning Regulation Policy Point that relates to your objection - all boring stuff, but it has to be written in this format to ensure it isn't thrown in the bin!)
